So today is a snow day, I have been up since 5a.m. contemplating what to do! I first contemplated, go to work or stay home. As going to work meant risking my daughter getting stranded at my mothers, or even worse trying to go to my mothers there are some weird roads on your way to her house, one is a road that goes down in a curve then up like a giant S.
I decided this would be a bit dangerous then found out that work was canceled anyway. So this was good news. We get paid to sit at home. I can take pictures of my little girl playing in the snow and enjoy the day just sitting at home. But then I thought... OH NO! I have no coffee, OK so this can be dealt with I can walk to the nearby gas station as soon as the sun comes up I can just walk on over.
Buddy left even though I am sure his work is closed as mine was along with other numerous places in the OR area. He finally returns home, getting paid for 2 hours just for driving in. I am glad I didn't have to drive in.
Kailey is still sleeping soundly so he and I cuddle for a while. I was honestly hoping to read a Good book. I haven't really read a book this year and I was hoping to cuddle with myself on the couch with the TV off reading a book by Leil Lowndes, or one of my chicken soup books... which I don't have enough of. I use to have a whole collection that I had read front to back 2 times.
But I love a good cuddle with my man, we may have our ups and downs, but some times it just feels like we are on the right page. After our cuddle I went to clean my truck up and run to the nearby gas station. Although our road is like a sheet of ice once you make it to the end of it 321 is always clear!
So I put on more warm clothing, take a broom and my 2 dogs and go to uncover my truck which is burried in 3 to five inches of snow. This is just my estimate.
I sweep the windshield, open the door which is surprisingly not frozen, and I start my truck. It took it a moment to start, I need to do some battery cleaning. I probably need a new battery then I can take care of the cleaning part. I will do it next pay day I think to myself.
My truck is my baby. I do my oil changes, and my brother does my brakes. I know they are done right when he does them because he double checks everything knowing his only neice is riding in it.
I go to the gas station. I get my coffee and stock up on cigarettes, grab Kailey a sprite and everyone breakfast. Then getting back to the house is the key. Since my drive is sloped getting out is not the problem. Driving back up the icy road and up my drive is though. I find it not as bad as I thought it would be. I only slid around a bit and all was controllable. Thanks the lord. I make it back to my driveway, park my truck backed up a hill, which took a little work and some speed without stopping.
I took kailey for a walk we are mailing her cousins some christmas cards with gift cards tucked away inside. Here are some pics of her putting them in the mail box.
